Conquering the Workplace: How to Succeed in a Male-Dominated Industry

It's 2024, and women could do what men could do and better!

Computer science, medicine, engineering, etc. These are often industries that women would get look down upon, and not taken seriously. Women would not get equal opportunities just because of their gender. They could be putting in 2x the effort, but with the old mindset women "don't belong here."

There are many jobs not just male dominated fields, where women would get look down upon as weak. Especially in higher stake jobs, men believe that women couldn't handle the "workload" or the "reasonability." With out a chance to prove themselves they aren't even given a chance.

Not just me being a girl, I believe that women have to work 10x harder to reach half of the opportunity's men get. This may be a controversial idea, but it isn't equal. The work isn't equal.

Ways that women could break into different fields

- Create an impact outside the classroom

Now this already may be true and working and putting in hours outside of classes. But for my high school students, a way to stand out compared to many other applicants is a passion project.

For my older students, working in internships or having a leadership role in a club or activate related to your field of interest. This may be more challenging to reach because you will be fighting against other men, but you have to add a special uniqueness. Other than being a woman in this field, what traits would you bring and what affect would you have.

-Networking. This works in all field and for personal connections. You could build new relationships that could help introduce you more into the field. This could also have an effect on helping you meet new people other than just job related. Networking is as easy as talking to new people from your classes or joining a new club. Now this would be harder especially as you aren't guaranteed in any connection, but you do get the chance to meet new people.
